This May 4th, The Truman House Tavern we will be celebrating it’s 2nd anniversary.  However it’s going to be a virtual celebration instead and that in itself doesn’t even feel right.  Nothing feels right lately, everything is off.  Every single day for the past month has been an absolute challenge.  I know that with change comes growth but right now it’s hard to see that growth as positive when there is so much hardship around us.  It was unbelievably hard to lay off staff.  I pray that we are able to bring everyone back when the stay-at-home order is lifted.  Restaurants and bars across the country are in such danger and it saddens me to think some will not reopen.  The food industry is a powerful force, one Miguel and I have loved for decades.  We are so thankful for our community around us, we truly are in this together.  We want to thank you for the continued support you have given us during this time.

What we are doing now: Selling Cocktails-To-Go & Take Out!  Ordering can be done online ahead of time or you can come into the tavern to order at the counter.  Check Instagram for the latest updates on hours.  Ordering online is so easy and fast (it isn’t an outside service but rather our own internal sales terminal). Just imagine, you will have the best looking cocktails for  “Virtual Happy Hour” when you check in with friends and family.  Cocktails are sold in large format, meaning they will yield between 3-5 servings.

-Please make sure to wear your mask when you come in and practice social distancing.  If you are not feeling well, do not come in until you are feeling better.  Consider ordering for curbside pickup-

In addition to cocktails, we are selling wine, bottled beer and draft beer growler fills.  Bring in your own clean, sanitized 64 or 32 ounce growler and we will fill from our selection of beers on tap.  (This requires you coming in, can not be curbside service).

Alcoholic beverages that are packaged by this establishment are open containers and may not be transported in a motor vehicle except in the vehicle’s trunk; or, if there is no trunk, the container may be kept in some other area of the vehicle that is not normally occupied by the driver or passengers (which does not include a utility compartment or glove compartment (Vehicle Code Section 23225)). Further, such beverages may not be consumed in public or in any other area where open containers are prohibited by law.

Speaking of Virtual Happy Hour: We have been asked how you can treat your kids teachers to a cocktail.  Even had clients buy a cocktail for their favorite nurse.  Just purchase any item and write in the notes who the purchase is for along with a phone number and we will send them a “Telegram” letting them know they have the credit to spend.  We also offer delivery and can deliver the gift for you.  When ordering online, enter address to see if we are servicing that area.  If you receive an error message, it means that address is outside our delivery zone.  All deliveries with alcohol will require us to check ID upon delivery.

How we are communicating: Instagram is the best platform for us.  We will do Live Videos throughout the week to bring you updates.

Why we aren’t open everyday: Miguel and I have 2 kids Bella and Alejandro.  Homeschooling is our new full time job.  So we are actually putting them before the business right now.  It won’t last forever, and they need us more than anything right now, so that is our priority.

What the future looks like: When we open AND WE WILL open,  there will be many new rules to follow.  We will be on top of all the latest news and policies and what needs to happen to operate safely for guests and staff.
